Opportunity Scholarship students deserve better. The current funding cap is far too low. #nvleg give families more choices, not fewer. 📣 Families: Contact your representatives today and demand action. Time is running out! #SchoolChoice #nvleg

And @ValeriaGurr deserves praise for reminding conservatives that they should be fighting hardest for school choice, not handouts to out-of-state corporations.
A lot of grassroots conservatives courageously stood up and opposed Hollywood handouts even when the fight didn't look winnable. A non-exhaustive list starts with: @KeystoneNevada, @NevadaPolicyRI, @ChuckMuth @whatsrightsam, @crismersch and @RealWashoeGOP. (I encourage you to

It's telling when an organization like @MtnStatesPolicy hosts a series of information sessions about Idaho's new parental choice tax credit program and a group of nay-sayers shows up looking for a debate. It was clear these sessions were designed to provide families with
Angry agitators are trying to intimidate Idaho parents and prevent them from participating in the state's new parental choice tax credit program. The rest of Idaho shouldn't let them. https://t.co/Yjgz3bDBhk

For 15+ years, too many Rs in #nvleg have capitulated, instead of insisting on compromise. Glad to see that changing.

It’s a rescue mission
Highly recommend @KelseyTuoc's piece on the UCSD remedial math scandal She focuses on the fact that most of these students were getting good grades in math in high school. This is large-scale educational fraud and the kids are the ones paying for it. https://t.co/ctVK1cHjEp

I'm attending a conservative state leaders conference in Palm Springs today & tomorrow. Discussion today on school choice. There are SO many options for Republican legislators to embrace...if only they had the foresight and backbone. Oh, and they LOVE @ValeriaGurr here!

Meanwhile, only 30% of Chicago public school students (3rd and 8th grades) were proficient in reading, with only 18% proficient in math. It's even worse for high school students, only 22% were proficient in reading. Those scores are well below pre-pandemic levels. Are you

Chicago public school administrators spent $7 million in one year on travel to places like Egypt, Finland, Hawaii, and a safari. Make them pay back every penny.

#Schoolchoice is really education choice because it’s not just about the building anymore. It’s how to match the student with the education that’s the best fit, regardless of the system it’s in. We'll be talking about this at #EIE25 this week. @matthewgburgess @Kerry_edu

If there’s ever a time to use leverage, it’s now. Republicans who ran on school choice—including the governor—must push for Opportunity Scholarships to be matched dollar for dollar. #NVleg #schoolchoicenow

No R in #nvleg ran on Hollywood handouts. Most, if not all, ran on school choice. R voters want electeds who fight for their priorities, not give $1.5+ billion to money-losing economic development project.

AB5, the Hollywood handout bill , passed the Assembly this afternoon by a razor-thin 22–20 vote. The bill is now at Senate — and they could still stop it, but only if they hear from Nevadans right away. Email your senators and urge them to oppose AB5:

Hollywood handout supporters have already doled out lots of goodies in an attempt to win support. Time to propose a dollar-for-dollar match for Opportunity Scholarships.
Rs only passed universal school choice in 2015 because @PatHickeyNevada stood up to Sandoval and demanded something exchange for his vote to hike taxes. @PKONeillNV now is your chance to help children.

@ChuckMuth @ValeriaGurr Republicans will stay home in the midterms if this passes, and they don't fight for school choice.

We are now into the voting buying portion of the Hollywood handout bill. Rs shouldn’t support this, but if they do — they should demand a dollar-for-dollar match for Opportunity Scholarships.

Republicans don’t compromise or give away Nevada’s interests. Our kids are always the best investment. If Republicans are expected to vote for a Hollywood handout bill, then they should at least demand dollar-for-dollar Opportunity Scholarships in return. #Schoolchoicenow
Overheard in Carson City: "I wish these damn Republicans would fight as hard for our kids and school choice as they are for this welfare program for Hollywood liberals." Couldn't have said it better myself.

@ValeriaGurr I'm hearing the same thing. The intensity is right up there w/the anger at Republicans for voting for the largest tax hike in state history in 2015. And many of those Republicans ended up being forced out of office or were defeated in the 2016 elections. I see primaries coming!
