As Scripture declares in Isaiah 41:8, God calls those who walk with Him in obedience His friends, and through devotion and commitment, that relationship is sustained in 2 Chronicles 30:35.

At Royal Feast, we were reminded that friendship with God is intentional and must be cultivated. Through the life of Abraham, who was called the friend of God, we learned that true friendship is built on communication, trust, and sacrifice.

• Strengthens, encourages, empowers, and never discourages or neglects you • Can pray you out of trouble and work with you • Corrects and rebukes you in love when you’re wrong (Galatians 2:11–12) • Bears burdens with you (Mark 2:3–4)

Avoid those who rejoice at your failure (Romans 12:15). A true friend: • Loves you as their own soul (1 Samuel 18:3) • Keeps agreements and covenants (2 Samuel 9:1) • Shares the same system of belief—prays, works, and walks with you (1 Samuel 23:16–17)

True friendship is sacrificial, covenant-keeping, and peace-giving, not anxiety-inducing. Biblical examples like David and Jonathan show deliberate, soul-connected friendships that celebrate and endure together (1 Samuel 18–20).

Friendships are intentional, not accidental. According to Proverbs 13:20, companions shape destiny, so choose wisely. Do not confuse friendliness with loyalty, an open teeth does not mean an open heart. Avoid friends who cannot stand up for you or take risks for you (John 16:13).

From Genesis 2:18, a helpmeet is not limited to marriage, friends also meet needs. Therefore, marry your friend and build relationships of mutual support. In Christ, all things are held together (Philippians 1:7), and nothing is irreconcilable where Jesus is involved.

They protect your interests, defend you in your absence, support you without making you feel like a burden, and never speak against you. Your pain is never an inconvenience to a true friend. Friendship must include God. Any relationship where God is absent should be reconsidered

The Friend We Need in 2026 A true friend is defined by honesty, even when the truth hurts. They desire your growth without jealousy or competition and celebrate your success without feeling threatened.
