Our @VCUAthletics head coaches lead by example, supporting @VCU's student-athletes on the court and in the classroom. Last year, five teams competed in NCAAs. That same year, student-athletes also averaged a cumulative 3.5 GPA, a record for the department.

From Richmond to Jim’s native Buchanan County and far beyond, Jim and Fran have changed people’s lives for the better. Jim and Fran have become true personal friends to Monica and me. Our heartfelt condolences go to Fran and their children, grandchildren and extended family.

Their generosity resulted in our naming of the McGlothlin Medical Education Center, allowed the hiring of exceptional faculty who hold endowed McGlothlin chairs, and funded the medical education of a number of outstanding students through the McGlothlin Scholars program.

Mónica and I are shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Jim McGlothlin. Jim and his wife Fran have been unmatchable supporters of @VCU, viewing philanthropy as a way to invest in and improve the future of an institution they believe in.
