#OTD 45 years ago, @UtahDNR captured this breathtaking view of Goblin Valley State Park. Taken on January 10, 1980, the photo showcases the park’s iconic sandstone ‘goblins,’ shaped over millions of years by wind + water. Here's hoping your weekend is just as picturesque! 🌄

✨ For our final #MarbledMonday of 2024, we're highlighting a fore-edge masterpiece! ✨ Local Government Archivist Alan Barnett uncovered this gem while processing the Sanpete County Criminal Docket (1920–1928). This striking volume once belonged to the county attorney.

Happy first night of #Hanukkah ! #DYK this rare holiday mashup has only happened a handful of times since 1900? The special years were 1910, 1921, 1959, 2005, and now 2024! 📸: Governor Huntsman and Rabbi Benny Zippel lighting the Hanukkah menorah in 2008 at the @UTStateCapitol

This @WesternUnion telegram was sent #TD 97 years ago! Found in the CO River Compact records, it shows Gov Dern coordinating about congressional hearings. Although government work never stops, the cheerful design of this telegram brings a little holiday spirit to the mix! 🎁🔔

In 1912, William Henry Huffman moved to Lockerby, a small community near Monticello, UT where his family took advantage of the Homestead Act. On Oct 12, 1918, Henry was drafted into the Army but, while at Fort Douglas, he died from influenza on October 30. https://t.co/BmmCBJTnDg

💚🖤 This green and black marbled cover has seen its share of history! A perfect pick for #MarbledMonday, this well-worn cover houses the Sanpete County Civil Court Index, which gives names, case numbers, and court dates dating back to 1887. 🖤💚

#DYK that from 1978-1996, Utah had a 12-court circuit system that handled misdemeanors, preliminary criminal hearings, small civil claims. Divorce, probate, land title cases were left to other courts. By 1997, the circuit courts were fully consolidated into the district courts.

At first glance this book SEEMS perfect for our #ArchivesFeast celebration, but it actually contains Spring City ordinances from 1912. 😂 Perhaps it's fitting because ordinances are the recipes for a functional municipality! 😉 #ArchivesHashtagParty
