Hopefully users will recognise and educate themselves on MEV and why it must be avoided at all cost, and stand up against L2 cash grab solutions, such as what @optimismPBC is on a dangerous path towards.

MEV is a huge threat to decentralised applications, and there's hasn't been any good solution on how to mitigate it on layer-1. There will most likely be lots of pressure on @optimismPBC to apply a similar fair sequencing solution as Arbitrum.

@arbitrum will start off with running their own sequencer _without_ any transaction re-ordering at all, eliminating MEV from the L2. They have a clear path forward where they will integrate a decentralised fair sequencing service powered by #chainlink

@optimismPBC has been vocal about their ambition to auction out the MEV, a design decision probably made early on, and most likely a big reason a16z made substantial investments in Optimism. The profit potential is enormous, but MUST be avoided.

With @arbitrum soon to launch, and @optimismPBC coming later this summer, there will be much focus on what differentiates the two. All in all, they're very similar on a UX and security point of view, but one HUGE thing stands out below the surface... ..how they handle MEV 👇
