Today, we successfully deployed a bottom-mounted pressure sensor in 10m water depth offshore of Dhigelaabadhoo. Also got to catch a glance at the live coral surrounding the island. 🌊🪸 #ARISE

First 2 days of fieldwork have been a smashing success (literally, smashing). We’ve been recovering @rbr_global pressure sensors, setting mounts into the reef for future sensors, taking CTD samples, and observing this highly variable site. @PlymUni @UoP_CPRG #ARISE

Still coming down from the buzz of this event. Loads to follow up on and connections to grow. Many thanks to all who shared their work.
The University has hosted the UK’s first Coastal Research Conference. The three-day event, organised by the Coastal Processes Research Group (@UoP_CPRG), highlighted many of the challenges facing coastal communities as a result of the changing climate. 🔗 https://t.co/AdKIJKrff0

I’m very flattered to receive the new Coastal Achievement Award at #CoastalSediments2023 conference with my famous colleague @DocHarleyMD for our work developing #CoastSnap community beach monitoring - communities understanding dynamic and changing coasts
We will also present the NEW Coastal Achievement Award which recognizes spectacular contributions to #coastalscience by individuals or groups. The first award will go to @DocHarleyMD and @MikeKinsela, founders of #CoastSnap

We have a particular interest in research interests which will bring new expertise to the group. This might be applications of remote sensing in the coastal environment, big data numerical model development, or studies of inner-shelf dynamics
