Keep young tomato plants away from drafty windows while they are young and vulnerable. Water your young plants daily at the soil surface or from a water tray beneath. You can start to mist the plants with water and feed with a high-potash fertiliser once they start to flower.

TOP TIP TUESDAY Keep damping off disease away by ensuring your seedlings are not overcrowded. If the seedlings are packed too densely thin the seedlings out so each remaining seedling has a good 2cm (1/2 in) space surrounding it.

TOP TIP TUESDAY Time to prune back those Forsythia bushes to keep the shrub graceful and attractive. Cut back the stems that have flowered back to a healthy leafy shoot - these shoots will form the flowers for next year's display.

TOP TIP TUESDAY You can divide waterlilies now. Take the plant out of the water and wash it down so you can see what you are dealing with. Prise away some of the 'baby' shoots popping up that surround the main crown of roots. Be sure these shoots have roots attached.

TOP TIP TUESDAY Candelabra primroses, cowslips and oxlips are great for dividing now for more colour in the garden next year, especially in shady spots. Primula vialii (pictured) and candelabra primroses love flowering at a pondside.

TOP TIP TUESDAY Learn to love lichen! If you notice hard, moss-like growth on tree bark in your garden this is lichen and is nothing to be concerned about. Lichen grows in areas with good air quality, it's non-parasitic and a testament to a healthy garden.

TOP TIP TUESDAY If you enjoy sowing seeds as a gardener but find the small seeds too fiddly to handle individually simply mix them with some compost and spread the mix thinly on top of the soil surface. You can use a sieve if it helps or let the mix run through your hands.

And the blossoms get better and better every year. Fantastic specimen. Well done!
Bought this Prunus Accolade (flowering cherry tree) from @UnwinsSeeds in 2017 as a bare root tree and it really is thriving this #spring

TOP TIP TUESDAY Give your summer garden a head start with a purpose-built algae cleaner. After the sludge and build up of algae on your patio, driveway or garden furniture in winter, this gives a thorough clean for the summer ahead. https://t.co/xM9qGdTF66

TOP TIP TUESDAY Add spring cheer to your home by cutting some flowering stems of Forsythia and place them in vases. Arm yourself with a pair of good, sharp secateurs and treat your windowsills indoors to a bit of spring colour.

TOP TIP TUESDAY Trim off all leaves of your rose shrubs that have held to your plants all winter. They may be harbouring dormant diseases that will attack as the weather improves.

TOP TIP TUESDAY Give garden birds water year-round as well as food so your feathered friends remain well-hydrated. Even in winter they appreciate water to keep their insulating feathers healthy and sufficiently downy to withstand the cold nights.

TOP TIP TUESDAY Sow #aquilegias now to get your garden brimming with pretty cottage #flowers this year. They attract beneficial #bees and flower splendidly in full sun and shade alike. Sow in trays with a thin layer of #vermiculite or soil.
