Barry is a good part of the heart of the story and he really wants to do the right thing and he isn't as outlandish as Deedee is BUT he still has his quirks and but you can count on Uncle Barry. Barry is here to make a scene and after 29 years he is finally going to Prom!

After MULTIPLE iterations and designs, throwing every design to my friends who are supporting trying to make it work, I ended up finding out that I was over complicating things and just. added the scarf. and EVERYONE agreed it some how made him look atleast 100% more gay. .

I've always seen Barry, in regards to Emma, of what Emma could be if she had the freedom to just be who she wants to be without any difficulties, and that is sort of what Barry does with Emma, supports her and gives her that confidence to be proud of her queerness.

One of the weirdest difficulties I had in regards to drawing Barry was making sure he was clearly, a Gay Man, by a glace.

When designing Barry, I took great lengths to make sure he was the warm and friendly older man that clearly wants to do something right in helping Emma, while also him starting to understand Emma more because he knows her experience just on not as grand of a scale as she does.

Based off his Broadway actor, Brooks Ashmanskas, Barry was a ton of work to make sure I had him right.

But who knows, maybe over the course of the story, she could learn a thing or two, cuz the lady's improving, so maybe don't give up hope!.

Trying to make sure I get the right Zazz with Deedee has been a treat because she isn't a bad person, she is just been famous for so long that she doesn't know how to be normal and how to do the right thing

With the hair for Deedee, I kinda felt the more bright reddest hair that Meryl Streep had within the Film adaptation fit Deedee a lot more, compared to the more subdued red Beth had.

Based off her Actress in the Broadway, Beth Leavel, Deedee's loud personality stands out in every moment she is brought into the story. And my lord the costume designers really made sure she had the goddiest outfits known to man.

"But it's not about me". All the way from New York City with a mission! Tony Award Winner, Deedee Allen is here to make her self known in the small town of Edgewater, Indiana to fight for the rights of an LGB-Teen, whether she likes it or not!

Of course despite everything Alyssa continues to be this ray of hope for Emma throughout the entire book and while trying to make sure everyone is happy, she knows she's not herself or what everyone else wants, she's someone in between. .

Also some minor emotion work trying to really get down the aspects of Alyssa I want to portray, she is a very soft and sweet type of person. Also her hair is just really fun to draw.

Based on the actress, Isabelle Mccalia, who played Alyssa in the Broadway production, it's been an absolute blast balancing this two sides of Alyssa in her art as she tries her best to make both Emma and her Mother happy. But we all know how that works out.

"The Hair has to be Perfect, the As have to be Straight". And right before Pride Month ends, how bout we show off the second leading lesbian (although closeted) Alyssa Greene!
