#1. Must be a CPU. The bug is primarily a flaw in the CPU AI code. It can only happen while a CPU is present in the game, Nana included.

After some extensive digging, this vanilla SSBM bug has 3 different unlikely conditions. The bug causes Nana's (or any CPU's) input to use random/garbage data in memory as the Y value for the left stick. (thread)
Was a fun stream. We found some surprising undefined behavior which can impact Nana's inputs in certain situations causing the game to be undeterministic. Thanks @UnclePunch_ and @eigenform for the help! UnclePunch will be doing additional research. More info later.
