Ahead of the U.S. Universal Periodic Review at the @UN in Nov., civil society urges UN Member States to recommend the U.S. to urge all states to pass laws establishing 18 as the minimum marriage age, no exceptions. Child marriage remains legal in 34 US states. That must change.

⬇️Correct! In fact, since 2018, 16 states, 2 territories & D.C. have set their marriage age at 18, w/o exceptions, including Missouri & New Hampshire just recently. Other states have intro'd bills to do the same. Until 2018, child marriage was legal in all 50 states. (34 to go!).
@charise_lee There is no credible evidence that lawmakers, courts, or mainstream policy initiatives in the United States are attempting to lower the legal marriage age or the age of adulthood to 14 years old. In fact, the current legal landscape shows the opposite trend.

Agreed! (Even though it's pretty much all we talk about!). That being said. did you know that just 16 out of 50 U.S. states (1/3 of the U.S.) have banned child marriage? You can see the full map here:
