At the University of Tulsa, we have scholarships that are metric based (and others also), a robust Honors College thanks to @jennfrey, and engineers who stage plays, D1 athletes who play the blues, and finance majors who read Milton. Hopefully, we build on recent momentum
'@MichaelPetrilli makes the correct point that '25 was "the year that opinion elites woke up to America’s educational malaise." But policymaking lags sentiment shift, so many states spent the year doing the opposite, lowering standards and accountability for students and schools.

It's really sad - for a little short term benefit, SEC programs are going to accelerate the trend toward college football becoming basically a regional sport with some pockets of enthusiasm elsewhere.

Tom Stoppard was my favourite playwright. He leaves us with a majestic body of intellectual and amusing work. I will always miss him.

University of Tulsa speech pathology graduates have a 100% National Praxis Exam pass rate. Virtually all are placed by graduation. This is a useful degree: even the market has spoken!
Not recognizing any of these as professional degrees is a problem, but I’m especially worried about this attitude toward speech language pathologists; many kids need them as preconditions to language acquisition/mastery, and therefore reading and learning in general.

Congratulations to TU for dominating Oregon State in every way. Completely dismantled the Beavers. Dom Richardson and Brody Foley were outstanding. The defense shut down the other OSU. Hopefully a sign of things to come.
