Streamflow can increase at alarming rates and carry various debris during monsoon storms. USGS does our best to safely monitor these flows, where we have established sites.
Debris flows are dangerous land & water flows caused by heavy rain over steep terrain & loose-bare soil. Flash flooding & debris flows are common in/near wildfire burn scars, so unfortunately much of the Southwest is susceptible to impacts. #Monsoon2k25. #azwx #nvwx #cawx
