The crews of Coast Guard Air Station Sitka, Coast Guard Cutter Bailey Barco (WPC 1122), Sitka Mountain Rescue, and Air Force 210th, 211th, and 212th Rescue Squadrons conducted search and rescue (SAREX) exercises near Sitka, April 30-May 2.

The motor vessel Genius Star XI, which experienced multiple cargo fires in December, has finally been cleared to leave Dutch Harbor for its original destination, San Diego.

MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew, forward-deployed to Cold Bay, conducted a wing-to-wing transfer of a 63-year-old-man from Dutch Harbor, yesterday. The aircrew safely transported the patient to Cold Bay, where awaiting EMS further transported him to Anchorage for care.

The Coast Guard reminds mariners and harbor users to remove excess snow and ice build-up from moored vessels this winter.
Accumulation of snow and ice on a vessel can create the risk of reduced stability and the potential for sinking, property damage, and pollution to occur.

Incredible work last night by our crews at Air Station Sitka and Station Juneau who rescued 3 trappers from their grounded boat at Teardrop Creek on the Chilkat Peninsula.
