#DYK bacteria & viruses can cause diseases but are not the same thing? Bacteria cause bacterial infections & viruses cause viral infections. Antibiotics kill bacteria while antiviral drugs fight viruses. If you are sick, talk to your doctor about treatments that are best for you.
