This week, UNHCR with partner @SYRedCrescent distributed winter relief items to 121 newly returned families in Darayya city in Rural Damascus. Items included blankets, winter jackets, plastic sheeting, woolen clothes to help them stay warm during the cold winter.

Today, we welcomed a Swedish delegation led by Benjamin Dousa, Minister for International Development Cooperation & Foreign Trade & Johan Forssell, Minister for Migration, to our supported community centre in Ghouta. They also visited returnees who started rebuilding their lives.

عادت فاطمة مع أسرتها إلى منزلها في حلب بعد أن أمضت سنوات عديدة في لبنان. بدعم مفوضية اللاجئين تمكنت فاطمة من شراء ماكينات الخياطة والمعدات اللازمة لافتتاح ورشة خياطة، وهي اليوم تحصل على دخل يوفر لأسرتها بعض الاستقرار، فهي قادرة على دفع نفقات الدراسة لابنها والعلاج الطبي لزوجها.

After years of displacement, families have started returning to Al-Ziyara village in Hama Governorate. To support them, UNHCR together with partner @SYRedCrescent, distributed #winter kits to 570 households/2,850 individuals, helping them stay warm as winter approaches.

Yesterday, UNHCR facilitated the 9th voluntary return convoy from Lebanon. About 400 Syrian refugees crossed via Jdaidet Yabous to Idleb, Homs, Hama & Rural Damascus. Since Dec 2024, 1.2M+ Syrians have returned from neighboring countries.

Yesterday, @UNHCRinsyria donated essential IT equipment including 83 laptops, six desktops, and 44 printers to the Ministry of Justice. This contribution aims to strengthen digital infrastructure and enhance access to civil documentation services for communities across Syria.

Today, we welcomed a QFFD delegation to a community centre in Damascus, where they met Syrian returnees & visited a returnee family from Egypt, supported by UNHCR’s shelter assistance. “Despite the challenges, we’re happy to be back home” said Hala, who left Syria at the age 11.
