In addition to sessions led by expert facilitators, participants actively contributed their experiences, challenges, and good practices—grounding the discussions in the realities of school communities across the continent. #SRGBV #SchoolSafety

Key themes included definitions and types of gender-based violence, safety in and around schools, response mechanisms, creating safe learning environments in conflict-affected areas, and psychosocial support for both teachers and learners.

On July 28-31, 2025, a Teachers’ Capacity Building Workshop on School-Related Gender-Based Violence was held in Yaoundé, Cameroon, organized by AU CIEFFA, FAWE, and UNESCO IICBA. The workshop gathered teachers, headteachers, and government officials from 21 countries.

This was facilitated though peer learning sessions, field visits to schools to observe local practices and practical sessions on TMIS. They also collaboratively developed strategies to guide the next steps within their respective countries towards improving CPDs.
