The Department of History is delighted to announce that Michelle Starkey is the recipient of the first-ever Robert M. Ireland Essay Prize for “Bleeding Eastern Kentucky,” which she researched and wrote for a History 499 seminar under the supervision of Professor Kathryn Newfont.
