And so it begins. Heatwave conditions spreading north in the next few days. Looks like this could be prolonged for some, especially in the South. Would recommend allowing the cool air in this morning and trying to keep it that way for most of today. #heatwave

Somehow picked the one Mirror headline that isn’t total garbage, yet offended by… wait for it … a colour 🤣 God forbid we use data visualisation in forecast models. @RupertLowe10 what would you suggest instead # FF9999 or # B30000? Welcome your thoughts on colour theory 🎨
The deep blood red is a nice touch from the Mirror, why not throw in some actual flames for effect? Maybe a charred skeleton or two? It does tend to get a bit hot for a few months - we should give it a special name. I’d like to suggest ‘summer’.

June temperature record in the firing lines again, according the the GFS. 36C on Monday. Quite astonishing how quickly we can theoretically achieve such high temps. (Especially this early in the summer) 🥵

Small chance of some thunderstorms in Kent overnight. I’d expect the majority of lightning to be offshore. The risk is minimal impact and therefore, I won’t be issuing a risk map on this occasion ⛈️
