Brody Brecht did not allow an earned run through 7.2 IP yesterday. He showcased two different breaking balls, both with a Stuff+ over 200, including a sweeper that averaged 88 MPH with -14 HB. Brecht's 31 induced whiffs were the most by any pitcher recorded on Trackman this year

Jack Young (@jackyoung125) has been a master of dominating the zone this fall. His latest outing featured a 7-pitch shutdown inning with 2 strikeouts. Over the fall, he has generated a 62% whiff rate on his slider and has a Location+ of over 120 on all four of his pitches!

The Hawkeyes' defense was elite in 2023, and we have the numbers to prove it. As a team, @UIBaseball ranked #1 in the B1G in Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) and Top 10 in the nation. Kyle Huckstorf led B1G center fielders while SS Michael Seegers ranked 1st in the entire country 😳

The development of Brody Brecht's fastball command doesn't get enough love. To finish the season, @brody_brecht threw his fastball for a strike 64.2% of the time in his last four starts (D1 avg = 62.6). This helped him close the year out with a 2.28 ERA in his final 23.2 innings.
