However, we have been moving a bill through the legislative process (AB 564) to freeze the rate at 15%. This bill is our highest priority to give the industry a fighting chance, so keep an eye out for how you can get involved and help make this bill law in California.

The state has a deficit, and revenues don’t look promising. This budget outlook, plus having many organizations not support our push, led to us being unsuccessful in including a freeze in this year’s state budget.

UFCW has been fighting hard all year to prevent the state from raising the cannabis excise tax to 19%. We know this increase will only allow illicit cannabis operators to flourish while harming the legal industry. 2025 has been a tough year budget-wise.

Military style ICE raids in our communities. David Huerta was beaten and dragged away. Because he saw them and stood up for justice. Because he’s not afraid. Neither are we. On MONDAY let's #FreeDavidHuerta, #FreeThemAll. 11:00 AM @ Grand Park in Downtown LA (200 N Grand Ave)
