π€¦ββοΈ @unstoppableweb could have been top dog by now if only they had stopped at 10 TLD's and built a basic web3 marketplace in 2023. Instead, here we are with 100 TLD's and a dysfunctional boomer marketplace with KYC in 2025.

I'm pretty sure people came here for the blockchain freedom tech. If we wanted a traditional web2 market, we would have gone to one with liquidity. π«³π€

π @unstoppableweb's current marketplace plan: Plucking web2 domainers and giving them exactly the same terrible web2 marketplace experience. Meanwhile, any superior blockchain trading functionality is completely absent. Whose idea was this?
Which domain marketplaces have the best and worst experiences for connecting your bank, KYCing, and getting payouts?

re: Why I vehemently oppose @unstoppableweb's ICANN partnership. I'm one of the few left speaking here who care about decentralization, as all of the others have already rage-quitted, but here is a practical argument tailored for investor-types:

UD had an army of web3 fans advertising for free, and developers building for @unstoppableweb as passion projects. Now they do not. This was the hidden cost of @unstoppableweb's out-of-touch decisions driving everyone away.

There were a lot of reasons: 1. TLD dilution, killing trader interest. 2. Deletion of the official UD Discord server, killing the go-to developer hangout spot. 3. Centralization and ICANN dick-sucking concerns (which UD proved correct), killing the interest of intellectuals.

All the while, I wonder if @unstoppableweb leadership even understands why.

Two years ago, we had entrepreneurs trying to set up their own UD-centric services. We had hobbyist devs creating stuff and hanging out on Discord. We had numerous 3rd-party UD fan club Discord and Telegram communities popping up. In 2 short years, they have all vanished.

In 2023, there were numerous builders trying to create apps and services for @unstoppableweb for free out of enthusiasm. IDSea, Pseudomarket, DigitizID, Onestoppable, UDPremium, UDLink, UDToolsApp, UD999ClubCom ... It's now 2025, and UD's builder community is completely gone.

π§΅After spending endless hours & days listing 100βs of my domains. I just realized that 80% of them do not appear on the marketplace or via general search. Some do appear but like this; In the marketplace search I typed my domain + TLD & this happens @matthewegould @ntropiq

@ntropiq You're plucking web2 domainers over to UD and giving them exactly the same terrible web2 experience. Meanwhile, you threw the superior web3 innovations out the window. I don't know how you planned on capturing anyone with that.

Turning @unstoppableweb's web3 domains into centralized DNS is not going to have the effect that most people think it will. π§΅π
We are working on our migration plans for web3 TLDs that acquire their matching icann tld in the 2026-2027 icann process. Our goals will be to allow current owners to have both the web3 and icann matching string subject to icann processes. As well as to keep fees to a minimum. We

Only @unstoppableweb's decentralized pure-web3 domains (like .x, .u, .888) can realistically compete against .com, .ai, .io & .org. Anything centralized will remain inferior to these top dogs of DNS, and will likely be worthless. This is a hard truth, but this is my assessment.

Decentralization on web3 domains matters for the common good. But in this case, it matters for you as investors as well, because without decentralization your domains have no edge in the crowded DNS market.

There are 1500+ DNS TLD's out there that are competing against .com. Almost all of them are worthless except for a handful of exceptions like .ai, .io, & .org.

Pros: This strategy may bolster adoption for @unstoppableweb so that their decentralized pure-web3 TLD's can thrive. Cons: The sacrificial TLD's that are centralized under ICANN will become normal DNS - Likely becoming worthless and inferior to .com, like almost every other DNS.

But how will this affect you as an @unstoppableweb holder? ...

What this means is that ICANN will be able to hijack those compliant domains any time they want, so these will no longer be secure for use on cryptocurrency wallets. Such domains can no longer be considered "web3", as decentralization is integral to function as wallet usernames.
