Finally, we are pleased to announce our Distinguished Speaker, Ertharin Cousin. A Distinguished Fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, she was also the Executive Director of the UN World Food Programme from 2012-2017.

The fifth and final participant in our faculty panel is Dr. Alan Zarychta. Dr. Zarychta is an Assistant Professor at @UChicagoCrown whose research focuses on public health and environmental policy in Central and South America.

Dr. Kavi Bhalla is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences whose research is centered around the development of safe, sustainable, and equitable transportation systems. He co-led the injury expert group of the 2010 Global Burdens of Disease Project.

Dr. Zhiying Ma is a cultural and medical anthropologist working as an Assistant Professor at @UChicagoCrown Her research looks at the design and implementation of social and medical policy, as well as how policy and development initiatives interact with marginalized populations.

Dr. Mercedes Pascual will be joining our faculty panel. Dr. Pascual is a Professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolution who researches the relationship between climatological events and the progression of infectious diseases. We can’t wait to hear from her on Wednesday!

First up we have Dr. Diane Lauderdale, Chair of the Department of Public Health Sciences. Dr. Lauderdale’s research examines the influence of structural social and behavioral factors on health, and she will be moderating our faculty panel.
