In autumn we returned back to school but studied mostly from the bomb shelters, it was very uncomfortable and cold. Thanks to our friends from West, who provided us with anti-aircraft defense systems, it become much calmer. Thanks for help!" 4/4.

We didn’t leave Kyiv, we have a lot of animals and we couldn’t leave them and couldn’t take them with us either. In March the Kyiv region was freed from occupation and it became calmer. 3/4.

Then the shooting began. It was very scary. We didn’t go to school anymore, studied remotely from one air alarm to another. 2/4.

This is one of the letters written by a kid from school #12 in Kiev:."Morning of the 24th February 2022. Everyone woke up very early, we didn’t know yet that the war started, but parents were very anxious and read the news from phones. 1/4

We share one of these letters with you so that you can also be impressed with these children. We will be posting all of them on our website soon (anonymized and with English translations).

Our heartfelt thanks go to school #12, and first and foremost to its fantastic students for their help in this soft diplomacy on behalf of our country. Together with you we will continue our efforts so that Ukraine gets all the support and weapons that it needs for its victory.

We sent these letters to our partners, the American foundation "Support Our Soldiers", which not only shared them with ordinary Americans, but also showed them to the country's leadership at the highest levels. Adults could learn a lot from these children.

This turned out to be a major challenge for our translators. Not so much a technical challenge, as an emotional one. The experiences of these Ukrainian children would break many adults, and yet in letter after letter we saw kindness, courage and a longing for victory.
