Palmerton North residents can now recycle their end-of-life tyres at the Awapuni Resource Recovery Park. Cost is $5 per normal car tyre, up to $20 for heavier tyres. They will go to Auckland to be used in the construction industry.

New rules for responsible outdoor tyre storage have passed into law with the gazetting of the New Environmental Standards (NES) under the Resource Management Act (RMA 1991). The regulations come into force on 20 August 2021. For more information see: https://t.co/QOESDu1a6j

Unfortunately #tyres are in the news again for being illegally dumped. This should become a thing of the past once regulated #productstewardship gets into full swing in the near future.

The day the #tyre industry has been waiting eight years for has finally come. Today @EugenieSage declared tyres and 5 other product categories priority products. This is a huge win for New Zealand and #sustainability #recycling
