“When you’ve got all the advantages… it’s easy”
Texas A&M signed more 5-star recruits in 2022 (8) than App State has signed top-1000 recruits in the last four years (6). The Aggies have every talent and resource advantage and it mattered none on Saturday. That's on coaching. Column @TheAthleticCFB:

Losing Travaris Robinson as a recruiter for Alabama is big. But as far as an actual DC? Kane Wommack is one of the best in the business. DeBoer absolutely killed this hire. As a reminder what Wommack did against Oklahoma State early in 2023…
Kalen DeBoer has zeroed in on South Alabama head coach Kane Wommack to be @AlabamaFTBL’s DC and a deal is in the process of being finalized, sources tell me and @ESPNRittenberg. Wommack was previously the DC at Indiana.

@CFBKings If we are only doing “worst losses”, nobody has a worse loss in the playoffs than a 7-5 MAC team who ranks in the 90s in SP+. Maybe focusing on top wins that show you are able to compete against the best should be prioritized over bad losses

@PardonMyTake @BFW “Nothing coming down the pipeline at QB”. They just signed the #2 player overall in the 2025 class with Keelon Russell. If DeBoer goes 9-3 again he will not be out. No way Alabama pays a $60M+ buyout in the NIL Era. Especially going into year 2 with Russell.

@itsAntWright The 5 SEC teams that lost in the tournament finished the regular season:. 10-0 against the ACC.4-0 against the Big 12 .Big 10 1-1 (win over Big Ten champ Michigan). Additionally they also beat #2 St. John’s, #5 Memphis, #12 McNeese State.

@AdamBreneman81 Where are these 4 Top-25 wins South Carolina has??. There best win is over #18 Clemson… Texas A&M could drop out of the top 25 completely leaving South Carolina with only 2 top 25 wins . Bama has a win over #7 Georgia and #13 South Carolina which is better than anything SC has.

@WesleyGullett One of the worst teams to make it to the National Championship during the BCS era. Resume included:. - 3 point win over Purdue (6-7).- 3 point triple OT win over Pitt (6-7).- 7 point win over Michigan (same team Bama beat by 27 points). No way Everett Golson was beating the Tide.

@dannykanell You literally just ranked the teams based on how many losses they had and no other criteria…. Georgia has the #1 strength of schedule and you have them #11. Tulane lost to Kansas State and got smoked by Oklahoma… #12???.

@dannykanell Danny… Outside of Clemson, there have been only 2 ACC teams in the last 10 years of the CFP (SMU and Florida State). They are 0-2. Maybe focus on the conference Florida State is trying to sue their way out of for being “non-competitive” than the SEC.

@stoolpresidente Big 12/ACC/G5 Playoff Record: 0-4. Don’t think the conference with 12 teams of the top 20 in recruiting rankings and 61 of the top 100 recruits is going anywhere.

@Brett_McMurphy @AP_Top25 So you didn’t include Alabama, but you included:. - Mizzou (who Bama beat 34-0). - Colorado (who lost by 22 in their bowl game which was the only ranked team they played all year).

@KayceSmith Oklahoma would be SMU and Indiana’s best win. Strength of schedule has to matter.

@dannykanell Common opponent is NC State. Miss State won by 14 points and Clemson lost. Further, Miss State wins against Auburn, Kentucky, NC State and Texas A&M are better than any win Clemson has on the schedule. A SEC West schedule is much tougher than an ACC schedule.

@NicoleAuerbach So they can go from the 16th best conference schedule to the top 10?. When SMU made it with the 60th ranked schedule?. No - the committee proved they valued not losing to great wins. For reference, Bama has Ohio State, Florida State, Notre Dame and West Virginia on their.

@dannykanell You are continuing to push an incredibly dangerous narrative that the only thing that matters is a 0 in the loss column regardless of strength of schedule. The committee is doing it too. Based on your narrative, Bama should schedule FIU, Western Carolina and Charlotte as.

@AriWasserman Buddy… ignoring on the field analytics or as you call them “hypothetical matchups” is how we ended up with this terrible SMU product in the playoffs. Nobody hates on KenPom with College Basketball. But you bring up SP+ and it all of a sudden is “hypothetical”. You are setting.

@dannykanell They’ll get in because the committee totally botched the initial rankings by not properly valuing Strength of Schedule. 10-2 Ohio State should absolutely be ranked over 11-1 Penn State… but the committee ignored SOS and have Penn State at #4. Can’t drop them now.

@ShehanJeyarajah Alabama’s wins against South Carolina, Georgia, LSU, and Missouri is better than anything Indiana has on their resume. Oklahoma would be one of Indiana’s top wins. But let’s defend Indiana who have shown everytime they play a top team, they get manhandled . Strength of schedule.

@Aaron_Torres No it proves strength of schedule matters and don’t let in teams that haven’t beat anyone. This isn’t a charity.

@McShay13 Every single year head to head is a determining factor. To have South Carolina jump Ole Miss (lost 27-3) and Alabama (lost 27-25) when they don’t have a better resume doesn’t make sense. This has nothing to do with brands.

@NicoleAuerbach Indiana was ranked 5th after playing a Mountain West level schedule and scheduling non-conference games against Western Illinois, Charlotte, and FIU (cancelling their Louisville non-conference game). This is all about setting a bad precedent for future teams to cancel good.

@TravisSkol Missing the point. Bama did not benefit from having a stronger SOS than SMU or benefit from having better wins (Beat SEC champion Georgia and South Carolina). Why schedule tough non-conference games and risk losing, when the committee values not losing more than good wins?.

@dannykanell Teams ranked 40th or worse based on SP+:. Big Ten - 11.Big 12 - 11.ACC - 10.SEC - 2. There are 37 Group of Five Teams with an easier schedule than Indiana so far. Weird you keep pointing to Texas as a team that doesn’t have a quality win when you’re arguing not using strength of.

@KayceSmith 1. Brandon Miller never carried the gun. It was Darius Miles’ gun in the back of his car. Miller had already returned home from the bars bc the lines were too long .2. Miles texted for Miller to bring him his gun, Miller had no knowledge of any altercation taken place according.

@CFBHome This is absolute nonsense. Team Talent is not a component of Strength of schedule at all. Strength of schedule is a purely mathematical formula of your opponents record and your opponents’ opponents record. Further any “team talent” rating is phased out of predictive analytics

@BudElliott3 @Cover3Podcast @TomFornelli I’m fine with criticizing Texas’ strength of schedule as long as we also scrutinize Indiana and Penn State’s. Texas has gotten away with only playing one team in the top half of the SEC so far (and lost)

@ChrisVannini No the path to it not mattering is keeping your strength of schedule as low as possible and just avoid losses without playing anyone . Indiana isn’t incentivized to schedule difficult and next year will play Old Dominion, Kennesaw State, and Indiana State in the non-conference.

@CFBKings Every ratings system (Massey, SP+, KFord) are not far off from this. The reason Bama didn’t drop is because they had a 88% post game win expectancy. You’re not going to drop a team after a game when the on-field analytics signal a 88% chance of winning based on the offensive and.
