Privileged to deliver my inaugural State of the County Address, a highlight of the strides achieved by the @TurkanaCountyKE since assuming office last year, alongside our visionary plans designed to positively transform the lives of our citizens.

The team have visited a number of tourism attraction site for information which will contribute to the development of a Concept Note that will be key in guiding the entire process. Our gratitude to President @WilliamsRuto for initiating and supporting the process.

I met with the committee on Monday and expressed my vision to develop Turkana's tourism potential, and assured the members of our support.

A Concept Development Committee is in Turkana to conduct a feasibility study for the development of a Kenya, Home of Human Origins Project. This project will add a new dimension to Kenya's tourism and open up unique opportunities on the origin of mankind.

Turkana County Public Service Board has officially announced vacancies for the positions of Deputy County Secretary and several directorships. Interested individuals to apply before the submission deadline of Friday 7th July 2023.

The CECM thanked the team and shared areas of collaboration with the Tourism fund including trainings of the hospitality sector and tourism promotion activities in Turkana County. The CECM pledge them their maximum support in promoting their programs in Turkana County.

Tourism fund aims at diversifying the resource base for financing development of sustainable Tourism industry through innovation, service excellence and stakeholders engagement about the sector training needs. They are expected to visit various training facilities.

The Tourism fund officials paid a courtesy visit to the department of Tourism through the CECM Iris Mariao with an aim of sensitization on Needs Assessment in compliance to Tourism Act 383 Laws of Kenya.

During the exercise Mr. Mukoo emphasized on the importance of designing the best hiking trails to Crocodile and Flamingo crater lakes. This will ease the accessibility of visitors to Central Island.

Director Tourism Mr. Benedict Mukoo led a team of Public Works Officers to Central Island National Park for a pre-visit for the documentation and preparation of the BoQs.
