Today we're featuring work from Kiersten Wilson and Jack Morris from Urban Hostel: A Temporary Place for Nomads, a Spring 2025 ARCH 3032 integrated studio. Students designed a mid-scale hostel at 408 Canal Street in New Orleans with accommodations and shared social spaces.

FRIDAY FROM THE ARCHIVES | WORMSER'S DEPARTMENT STORE. New Iberia's Wormser's showcases rare 1930s Art Deco in Louisiana. Originally 3 storefronts, unified in 1932 with terrazzo & Carrera glass. Now it houses Bambino's Burgers, proving preservation keeps history alive.

FRIDAY FROM THE ARCHIVES | WRAY-DICKINSON BUILDING. Edward F. Neild and Clarence Olschner designed this 1917 Beaux Arts building as architecture-as-advertisement for a Ford dealership. The terra cotta facade features a lion's head biting an automobile axle with winged tires.

FRIDAY FROM THE ARCHIVES | TALLULAH BOOK CLUB BUILDING. This 1930 building exemplifies Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and women-led civic action in rural Louisiana. It served as the parish's only library and became the heart of civic life.

FRIDAY FROM THE ARCHIVES | TCHEFUNCTE RIVER RANGE REAR LIGHT. Built in 1838, the Light Station marks the entrance from Lake Pontchartrain. The 38-foot brick tower uses materials from the Civil War-damaged original & a lantern from Mississippi's destroyed Cat Island Light.
