I learned about some interesting cut content for the EU. Originally Panaka was going to join the rebels & be captured & executed by Nial DeClann. Instead, Panaka stays loyal to the Empire, refusing Leia's efforts to get him to defect. He was written to be Hissa's mentor instead.
