This week we attended the 79th Annual Conference of the Conservation Districts of Iowa and presented three Windbreak Awards to Iowa farmers that have completed projects on their properties. Congratulations to Randy Husman, Jacob & Caitlyn Lauver(pictured), and Gene & Bev Schultes

The final ReLeaf Team highlight is Ben! Ben is the Urban Forestry Project Manager for the group. He is seen scouting areas for new trees and making sure the trees already planted are thriving. Recently, he received his certification to be an Arborist!

Dina is the Outreach, Volunteer & Community Education Coordinator! You might recognize her from the Tree Voucher Program held twice a year. Dina enjoys pickleball, exploring the local trails, and volunteers as Vice President of the Cedar Rapids Parks Foundation.

Last Thursday, the Des Moines Growing Futures members got to go explore the Iowa Arboretum & Gardens. They were able to see the tree groves and get a closer look at the pollinators! It's now the last week of our summer season! Soon, it will be time to switch gears into planting.

We continue along with our team introductions and next up is James! James is the Linn County Growing Futures Program Coordinator responsible for assembling the spring, summer, and fall teams that plant and water trees. He enjoys hands-on activities, being outdoors, kayaking!
