On December 11th, Rivian will give a sneak peak with their AI & Autonomy Day in Palo Alto, CA. I will be attending in person with full overage and live demos. It should prove interesting to see just what they've been cooking up over at HQ.

Combine this with @RJScaringe's recent 2-hour hands free drive around Palo Alto and you can see the shape of the roadmap start to come together. Data + edge cases + extended autonomy sessions = self-driving foundation curing, rapidly.

Notice the language. They want to build and improve low speed parking features using real world environments like shopping centers and public parking lots. This is the exact proving ground that grows self-driving systems into really useful frameworks.

Here is the full email @Rivian sent Gen2 owners. Read this carefully and think about what they're preparing for (December 11th looms large with the AI & Autonomy Day).

With update 2025.46 coming next month, that changes. Rivian will now use your saved locations to exclude the places you've marked as safe zones like Home, Work or favorite locations. Everywhere else becomes training data for real world edge cases the models desperately need.
