Nothing ever stays dead in comics, and now that’s true for the MCU. In falling back on its past, Marvel has an opportunity to do something drastic: a fresh start. The franchise could still use a reset, the #DeadpoolWolverine box office notwithstanding https://t.co/dtYQyoizRc

#DeadpoolAndWolverine: The corporate cynicism for the most part works within the confines of the Deadpool movies' fourth-wall breaking meta narrative, but it still suffers from some of the MCU's worst traits. More of my review at @letterboxd

I broke the news in my newsletter this week that Alamo Drafthouse was looking to buy these DFW and Woodbury assets. They won the bid during an auction yesterday out of bankruptcy court. I hear it was for close to $6 million. https://t.co/yAVLuDyYY3

#TheBoys is back. So I wrote about how Amazon, which has faced an identity crisis over Prime Video, has carved out a space it seems eager to keep filling: Dude TV. https://t.co/3ZPkZFarvi

#OnePiece was Netflix's biggest program in the second half of 2023. #Manga and #anime have surged in popularity in recent years outside of Japan. Streamers have taken notice. Will legacy studios seize their moment too? https://t.co/X3BXfdrqpA

Yesterday marked five years since #GameofThrones ended. I wrote about the show's legacy, its enduring popularity despite the polarizing finale, and the rise of IP TV. Also, Netflix's strange "renewal" of #3BodyProblem

Game adaptations like #Fallout are getting a lot of attention, but Hollywood's latest love affair with the video game industry goes way beyond and is about much more than that. I wrote about why at my substack https://t.co/wrWcWrRvNr

lol literally the second I posted this a spam comment appeared from an account with zero followers. Things over here are going great. I thought Elon was getting rid of the bots?
#DeadpoolAndWolverine looks very cool, but it'll have to do two things to win me over: 1. Give a compelling reason for bringing back Hugh Jackman's Wolverine beyond MULTIVERSE STUFF 2. Overcome the inevitable avalanche of winking references and nostalgia porn

I'm not the biggest fan of the Deadpool movies, so it already has an uphill climb. Wolverine and Marvel Studios in the mix is attractive, but this movie pretty much has the future of the MCU riding on it, for better or worse

Popping back on here to share my latest substack piece. It's clear that Universal has dethroned Disney as the animation champion. How'd they do it? Thanks to @PDergarabedian for re-connecting and providing his insights (just like old times!) https://t.co/tmVUcmIZxM

I wrote about Zack Snyder, #RebelMoon, and whether his track record justifies Netflix money. Oh, and the end of the DCEU https://t.co/O7WU7bOkqZ

re-upping for those who watched rebel moon instead of aquaman this weekend
I am popping back onto this hellsite to ask a question, potentially for a future Substack post: If you consider yourself a die hard #ZackSnyder fan (seen and liked all of his movies, mad that he couldn't make Justice League 2, etc), do you have any interest in seeing #Aquaman2?

Prediction (maybe more of a suggestion): scrap this movie, just do SECRET WARS, and wrap up the multiverse saga. It's not working, and the MCU needs a reset sooner than later
Director Destin Daniel Cretton has departed “Avengers: Kang Dynasty,” an upcoming superhero adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cretton is still on board to direct the sequel to his 2021 hit “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.” https://t.co/xI4ztK5lJN
