Thank you to everyone who has supported us since then, and if you haven’t yet what better time than today to support local, see all of the work we did to restore this historic building, and try what Edmontonians voted to be the best BBQ in #yeg all in one visit!?
117 years ago today, on September 11, 1908 the Transit Hotel opened its doors for the first time in the heart of what was then the Village of North Edmonton. We were proud to give one of the oldest buildings in #yeg a new life 4 years ago after it had been closed since 2017.

3/x-The walls are covered in awesome old photos, mementos, and stories, from that era. Oh, and the food? Edmonton voted it the BEST BBQ in the city last year! 😍 Tender brisket, fall-off-the-bone ribs, juicy pulled pork, smoked to perfection with all the fixings.

2/x-It was a meatpacking hub that put North Edmonton on the map with our dominant industry, it wasn’t oil and gas back then. And guess what? That amazing history is still alive inside the beautifully restored Transit Hotel at the Transit Smokehouse & BBQ!

1/x-Hey Edmonton! We have some great local history for you. Right here in the heart of the old community of Packingtown in the Village of North #yeg sat the Edmonton Public Stockyards which were the second largest in North America! Only Chicago’s Union Stock Yards were larger!
