- SB 8 on its own does NOT fine, arrest, or charge individuals accused of using what this law determines to be the “incorrect” facility. The fines are strictly for government-owned buildings. - SB 8 does not apply to private businesses.

Here’s what you need to know: - The law does not clearly describe how SB 8 will be enforced. We can predict that the implementation of SB 8 will be inconsistent, and agencies will develop differing policies about how to deal with “violations” of the law.

SB 8 would not fine, arrest, or charge individuals accused of using what this law determines to be the “incorrect” facility - the fine is strictly for the public buildings. These fines could potentially bankrupt our public institutions. #txlege

Policing who can access public facilities is a slippery slope into policing all Texans based on the whims of who is in power. #txlege

This bathroom bill is not about safety. It doesn’t prevent someone -convicted of rape, -convicted of sexual assault, or -on the sex offender registry, from using a public bathroom. It DOES prevent me from taking my daughter to the women’s restroom, even if it’s empty. A joke.

Republicans claim their bill is meant to protect women, but they can’t answer how it would protect women who might be mistaken for men in public or address the potential for “bathroom police” to harass women. They dodge the tough questions! Watch House Democrats hold them

All year, we have continued to come together in community and build our own spaces to love and create joy. Bills and laws will never take that away from us. We, alongside so many others, will continue fighting for what we deserve - a life of dignity in the state we call home.

The severity of the situation was stressed by constituents and organizations not just this year, but for over 8 years. However, their inaction shows how they truly feel. Take action now - call the reps. If you're in Austin, join us at the capitol tomorrow to pack the gallery.

Through the regular session, politicians who claim to support trans Texans absolutely did not do their due diligence. Legislators could not be bothered to do the most basic part of their job to support us: show up to vote against bad bills.

Recent events highlight a pattern: concerning online behavior often appears before real-world incidents. This isn't political—it's about protecting people and workplaces. Screen for patterns, not just history.
