It was there she was blessed by a local Wintu tribe, as golden eagles have significant symbolism in their culture. They bestowed her name, which means ‘one who soars’.

The collision left her with a right wing that was amputated at the metacarpal feathers, making her unable to fly. She was placed in human care at Turtle Bay Exploration Park in Redding, CA.

Seteweela is an approx. 14-year-old female golden eagle who was found at the estimated age of 3 on the ground, injured. She had collided with a wind turbine in a wind farm just outside of San Francisco.
