Hello, medical examiner here. You are going to see a lot of people saying this today. This is 100% a misinterpretation of this autopsy report. What the Medical Examiners office has released is a preliminary report, it is not the final version. 1/?
I must confess that I don't even like Noroi that much so that when I tell you that Koji Shiraishi's Senritsu Kaiki Kowasugi! Files are easily among the best found footage movies I've ever seen, you'll know I mean it. These movies...these movies are WILD.
@Rooflemonger
Genuinely not joking when I say that in a professional capacity as a pathologist I have said, "Damn that dude got straight up Subzero'd," more than once.
@samarialainen
Yes the bones will absolutely remain quite hard, though the rest of a decomposing body can be very soft, depending on how long they've been that way (although if they've leatherized they can be quite hard). That said, the ribs may indeed be easier to break.
@ziibiibii
Well, this person is dead so no cpr is going to accomplish anything, but if he is indeed frozen anyone attempting cpr would find it very difficult. In settings like that the soft tissue and internal organs become basically a solid block.
Asphyxia as a cause of death often DOES NOT demonstrate physical findings. There are some, but they are nonspecific and not present in all cases. As such to make the diagnosis, the ME needs to exclude other potential causes of death which will necessitate a toxicology report 2/?
The worst part of all live action adaptations (that aren't Battle Angel Alita) is that they are deeply embarrassed by their source material having once been a cartoon so they have to at once be cloying reverant while also cinemasins-ing their own plot.
The presence of natural disease such as coronary artery atherosclerosis does not exclude traumatic or positional asphyxia as a cause of death. Those findings may be ultimately deemed contributory, however it does not make the manner not a homicide.
Now seems like a good time to remind everyone that while the movie Candyman is obviously completely fictional, the story of the murder that occured because someone broke into an apartment through the bathroom mirror thanks to substandard housing policies was true.
"Ah TRUE horror is real life, and therefore nothing can be scary in fiction," I say as the world ignites on fire around me. "I said true horror is real life!" I shout as the screams are very loud and I'm not sure if anyone on the ever growing corpse pile heard me.
Furthermore, having, for example, a cardiac event in the setting of an altercation could still be considered a homicide as it was that event that lead to the conditions necessary for that disease to kill the individual.
Akudama Drive is a dirty dozen-style story in which 6 criminals and 1 pathologically nice person are forced to rob a holy shinkansen in a cyberpunk Osaka run by a police state made by the team behind Danganronpa and I have no idea why absolutely everyone isn't watching it.
It would have been ideal if, for example, there had been cutaneous and ocular petechiae or hemorrhage in the soft tissue of the back. But often in cases like this those findings are not present and it makes things very difficult and unfortunately easy for media to misconstrue.
Designwise I can't help but think this is a nod to the Hachishakusama (or 8 Foot Tall Woman) creepypasta from some years back, which is pretty rad! She also made an appearance in Fatal Frame V.
It seems like it would be helpful to include something about contributory causes here. When the report says that underlying natural disease may have contributed to his death it is just that, *contributing*. A nonnatural cause of death will always trump a natural contributor
Just to clarify for anyone who gets this far, none of this is to say a medical examiner might come to a different conclusion, one which I may disagree with, or might have found a better way to convey this. Just trying to help clear this up.
@BlueyXbox_
When they are this far gone there's nothing you can do, but for someone who is severely hypothermic but still alive you'd need to slowly warm them back to body temp.

It's actually very proconsumer to back out on supporting small devs because of pressure from governments. You're very welcome gamers.
I can't stress enough how excellent The Great Silence is. A spaghetti anti-western which inverts the genre from its snowy landscape to its pointed rejection of rugged individualism and depiction of bounty hunters as oppresors and outlaws as victims of an economy of violence.

I want to thank everyone who read through this thread. I truly hope it helped. If you want more information, please check out this thread. Dr. Melinek has infinitely more experience than me and can help further elucidate what's happening here for you.
Look I'm not going to get into the "what series made anime mainstream?" discussion, but anyone who tells you it was 100% My Hero Academia was definitively born after the year 2000 and therefore has absolutely 0 perspective or insight whatsoever to offer on this subject.
Lily C.A.T. is the dumbest movie I've seen in a very long time and for that reason alone, it rules. I can't believe a ripoff of Alien somehow also did Gunbuster and then ended on a monologue about butterflies. I lost count of how many times I shouted "What??"
Someone decided to do a "gotcha!" and inform me that this is a set up for how much the reviewer liked it in spite of this. I read this whole review before posting: They did not like it. They spend the entire review alternatingly shitting on it or giving backhanded compliments.
While the redraw Sailor Moon trend is still part of the cultural zeitgeist, let's take a minute to remember when Togashi drew Sailor Moon in HxH while he and Naoko Takeuchi were dating.
Hey here's a cool tip before you reply: if you compare people not wanting to be around you because you are continuing to make the conscious decision to put yourself and everyone around at risk to uh the holocaust, you're actually a tremendous piece of shit.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space-
I last saw this movie over a decade ago and the attitude at the time was that it was "so bad it's good." Folks, this is just a *great* movie. It is one of the highest effort films I've ever seen. It's wildly creative and constantly surprising.
"Twitch chat made a streamer cry for playing the HP game!" Wow, man, that sucks. Now imagine if that happened every day, in the real world, and it wasn't because of a dumb game you can just turn off but instead it was because you existed.
@greendoondoon
@LouisatheLast
On average it takes 3 months for a final report, whereas the preliminary is done at or near the time of autopsy. So as you can imagine it is definitely not complete.
I've now read up to the end of what's available on comixology for PTSD Radio and I sincerely hope Kodansha continues to publish it because it is an absolutely delightful horror manga. I can't recommend it strongly enough. PTSD Radio: The radio network that desecrates your mind.
@RialAstral
@_Linola
They do not have to thaw bodies to confirm they are dead. I have had to thaw plenty of definitely dead bodies for autopsy that I have received frozen.
The most frustrating thing about this election night is how apparently everyone just forgot that this election is going to take all fucking week to decide because apparently contributing to a nationwide doomscroll was more valuable.
HUGE update if you're still reading this far into this thread. Here is the actual ME report which clearly indicates that no final diagnosis has been made in this case.
Hennepin County Medical Examiner's report for press release. There is NO mention of any cause of death. Don't let the media and corrupt law enforcement spin this.
It's late and I'm continuing my very slow re-read of Berserk and I just want to say: this is one of the single best comic pages ever. Berserk is just incredible.
"Why are all these new kids shows gay?!"
Well, let me explain: for literally all of time, people have been gay.
And yet, you may notice, that for literally the entire existence of kids television, none of the characters were allowed to be.
This was a problem.

@GOGcom
To give a small dev team hope that their game might finally see the light of day again and then blame the consumer for their cowardly decision to back out is so despicable I don't even have words.
The cool thing about Biden doing really the bare minimum for student loans is that every tweet inventing reasons to be mad about it is even more transparently evil than the last.
I've seen a number of comments suggesting that "anime fans" or "anime purists" are the reason Netflix's Cowboy Bebop got cancelled which is an immensely silly way of rationalizing the simple fact that no one wanted to watch it.
@BadMedicalTakes
It's doubtful that many will read this but I am compelled to say it: While it is true that arterial blood is brighter red than venous blood, the variation in the color of blood products is a question of hematocrit, the percentage of red blood cells in plasma.
What fucking sucks is Barack Obama follows me here, I assume for horror, anime, and video game insights and I'm just worried about where he'll get those from now on.
Went to remove the shirt from a body today and very loudly, very dramatically broke their arm. So much so that my tech became physically immobile for several minutes because she was cringing so badly.
Contrary to what the writers for prestige television on HBO tell you, being able to predict a twist or big reveal doesn't mean the writer messed up, it means they wanted that reveal to have build up and be justified in the logic of the story they are telling.

AAA gamed companies Do. Not. Care. About. You. They do not need you to defend them. CDPR the company is not suffering here, CDPR *the company* is doing great. It's the people who are going to have to pick up the pieces of this debacle that deserve your support.
I guess just about the most 2017 thing that could possibly happen is a cast member from Firefly suggesting that being a pedophile is a more noble thing than supporting abortion.
I would encourage anyone who is skeptical of this interpretation to read or watch some reviews of not just RPGs, but games of any genre from Japanese devs during the 2010s. Critics often went above and beyond to belittle and malign games not made in the West.
"For us as developers the first time we heard it, It was like a discriminatory term", Naoki Yoshida speaks up about how he does not want Final Fantasy XVI to be called a JRPG
The Munsters-
Folks, a lot of people out there are going to tell you this is a bad movie. I'm here to say, without a doubt, this movie rules. This is a perfect Halloween movie. It's nonstop jokes, it's nonstop spooky fun and it looks like a Spooky Sounds CD sounds.
