Rootstown junior Zach Pastor was recently named to the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association's Division V All-Ohio team. Pastor finished the season with a Portage-County leading 75 points, including 31 goals and 13 assists for the Rovers.

Kent Roosevelt sophomore Callaghan Knapp was recently named to the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association's All-Ohio team. Knapp scored eight goals and had six assists this season for the Rough Riders.

Streetsboro football coach Pete Thompson became the school's career wins leader during the 2025 season. Thompson set the mark with the team's win at Woodridge in W7 , and he now has 73 career wins at Streetsboro. John Arlesic (2004-2016), had the previous school record with 68.

The 2025-26 HS girls bball season begins this week. On Friday, I will be at John Hercheck Court at Fred Brookover Gymnasium to cover the return of the Waterloo girls varsity program, which hosts Campbell Memorial. It will be the first Vikings varsity game since Feb. 18, 2023.

The curtain dropped on the Garfield football season on Friday in a 56-14 loss to No. 1 Cardinal Mooney in a Division V Regional Semifinal matchup. Congratulations to the G-Men on another memorable year. The graduating seniors went 40-9 in their careers and won 5 playoff games.
