The reign of Constantine and his sons was probably peak Roman state, in terms of economic, military and administrative might.

Talking about class…. This (leaving your millions to dogs) is more abhorrent to me than seeing people with far better opportunities than I had.

Simon Cowell (66) plans to leave no assets to his son “I don’t believe in passing down from generation to generation.” His $600 million net worth will go to children's or dog's charities “I’m not too interested in money, but I don’t aim to have some pot of gold for my

I meant this in the most neutral way possible. It’s perfectly natural for parents to hand down their expertise and contacts to their children. People can debate how this can be mitigated. I have never formed a strong opinion on it.

This is just one of the few traditional class distinctions left. I had no idea what I was doing, and neither did anyone I grew up with.

I don’t understand how everyone else just knew what to do. like before graduating when they were doing a bunch of micro-internships ready for careers in management consultancy and magic circle law firms. how did they even know those were jobs

Today is probably the most important *single* day for the curation of knowledge in the history of humankind. Sounds ridiculous, but combining source-led AI text in an encyclopedic format, whatever one makes of the outcome, is a tectonic shift in how information is triaged. @xai

Then execute White criminals by death penalty first. There are more heinous, horrific and monstrous White criminals than there are foreign criminals ☕️ I'm against the death penalty but for you @RupertLowe10 I'll gladly make the exception.

Interesting. Spain mined about as much gold in a century of American "colonization" than Peru did alone (officially, real figures likely higher) in a bad year (2024): 100 metric tons.

Little known fact: the entire shipment of gold from all the Spanish provinces in America, from Oregon to Patagonia, to Spain during the ~330 years that their rule lasted was basically the same than what Peru mines in a single year. They also left an incredible wealth of

Visited my parents this weekend. It's the only time I sit down and watch TV. *Turned it on to the main channels* Strictly - Antiques Roadshow - Top Gear - Who wants to be a Millionaire? Literally unchanged since I was a kid watching in 2004. A medium completely frozen in time.

The Dream of the Rood (Cross), written in Britain between 700-900, has got to be among the most mesmerising poems in existence. To me, it presents the traumatic mental leap of having to go from imagining your ideal as a victorious warrior, to now a murdered slave.

This is absolutely insane. She is saying the difference between Your Party and the Greens, is the politics of anti-Zionism. Because the Greens believe in diplomatic ties with Israel (I didn't even know that). At some point they will both realise they're *UK* parties..
