Statement on Blue Box changes in northern York Region communities

Great day in Clarington as we celebrated nearly $2.9 million awarded through the second round of the Building Faster Fund. This investment will support around 900 new homes, and help the community reach more than 80% of its housing target!

Great to join Mayor Del Duca and MPP Laura Smith to break ground on infrastructure upgrades at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.Through $55 million in MHIP funding and key road investments, our government is enabling 34,000 new homes and supporting the Black Creek Renewal Project.

Proud to join @DurhamCatholic for the ground breaking of the new Paul Dwyer Catholic Secondary School. Our government’s $71 million investment in this project will deliver 1,061 new student spaces in north #Oshawa - opening just in time for September 2027.

Proud to visit the Cenotaph at the Port Perry Legion to lay a pair of boots in tribute to the “last march,” honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to Canada.

As we observe on this November 11th, let us remember our fallen heroes, thank the veterans of our communities, our soldiers who continue to bravely serve, and their families who support them. On behalf of the Riding of Durham, thank you for your service and your sacrifice.

As Remembrance Day approaches, we honour the courage of Canadians who have served - and those who continue to serve. This Remembrance Day, I would like to invite all service members to connect with Ontario’s natural beauty and know that we are deeply grateful for their service.

People deserve reliable infrastructure, and a real chance at home ownership. Our government is helping communities repair aging systems, expand capacity, and unlock new homes. We’re giving municipalities the tools they need to grow - and we’re getting Ontario building again.

Local leaders continue to join us in support of Ontario’s plan to modernize conservation authorities. As @stevendelduca and @drewdilkens note, these changes will empower Conservation Authorities to protect drinking water, prevent flooding, and keep communities safe.

Proud to speak on Bill 60, the Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act as both Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks - and also, Acting Minister of Infrastructure. We are removing barriers to get shovels in the ground, support workers and protect food supply chains.

Honour, courage, and community was the theme of the Durham Regional Police Appreciation & Awards night. Proud to hear @fordnation highlight our government’s commitment to safety and support for our officers and civilian employees. Thank you for keeping our community safe.
