What am I missing? Do people not realize like 90% of people are subject to withholding tax? For vast majority of people, it's not like there's a checkbox option "Just give me all my money. I promise I'll pay my taxes at the end of the year." They just take it regardless.

All taxation is theft! This is what is required to fund the welfare state and it's only a fraction of what that RN is paying in taxes. Now calculate property taxes, gas taxes, tariffs, luxury taxes, the payroll taxes their employer pays, inflation... On and on.

There is no true socialism, only different flavors of central planning and government intervention into the economy. There is, however, true capitalism, which is the complete lack of government intervention and central planning.
