@TimothyDuignan @LakeBrenden @jeremyphoward As an emergent property, GPT-3 developed a pretty good grasp of basic arithmetic. Not everyone has the words or background to accurately describe GPT-4's abilities. Including GPT-4. Like its predecessor, it tends to be slightly pessimistic about its own abilities.

@TimothyDuignan @LakeBrenden @jeremyphoward At times I doubt we as sentient humans have the ability to "decide" or "teach ourselves". Maybe it's the society software (I haven't a better word, due to my ignorance) that makes us do those tasks. And we're kind of terminals with some degree of independence.
