I have tried swimming, golf, taekwondo and even lawn tennis but I think badminton is the best sport especially for a surgeon. The cardio, hand eye coordination, reflexes and the fact that it can be played indoors just makes it an amazing sport. Absolutely in love ❤️

It can hinder visualization when preserved but thankfully we could complete the procedure without needing to divide it. *posted with patient permission*

When it is large like this, it’s best to preserve the ALHA to prevent liver ischemia and one has to be careful to handle it carefully as it can bleed if injured.

Incidental finding of an Accessory left hepatic artery (rare variant that arises from left gastric artery) while I was dissecting the hiatus for a laparoscopic fundoplication in someone with severe gastroesophageal reflux.

Patient - I told my husband I am going for appendix surgery. Don’t tell him I am doing a gastric sleeve (weight loss surgery). Doctor - okay madam. *post surgery* Husband - thank you so much doctor. How was the appendix? Can I see it? Your answer?

If you ask me, Focus is the main superpower of any surgeon. Being able to shut out the noise from everything and tune your full attention to the patient in front of you is so underrated.

Not sure what I was thinking about here. Could be an anticipated difficult anatomy, or the really good jollof I had the evening before 😜 🤷♂️

We have to push our agenda as Nigerian doctors. I still believe we are in the best place to take care of our local population. Let’s populate the practice of good doctors and reduce the bad image many people have of us.

There are very good doctors among us and the least we can do is publicize and send more patients to them. They get good outcomes and that’s less bad press for us Nigerian doctors. If I have a patient with OBGYN issue I send to Dr Lilian. I have guys for almost every specialty

Maybe there is still an issue of visibility and awareness. With all due respect, what a GP would tell you about colonic cancer would be different from what a general surgeon would and that too maybe different from a colorectal surgeon. Stop comparing oranges with apples.

Go and see a proper specialist running a standard practice. Listen to them, and then go and compare with doctors in other parts of the world and tell me if we are inferior. There are still very very good doctors in Nigeria

You get reviewed by a relatively inexperienced person in Nigeria and then go with their report to a super specialist prof in the UK. Obviously the outcomes would differ. Comparing oranges and apples and then generalizing that ‘all Nigerian doctors are not good’.

Incase you see me genuflecting in random offices in Abuja, face front and mind your business. 😁
