Hello everyone, Michael Keller here (the son that's helped run Dad's social media since we started in 2013). Thank you so much for all the beautiful memories, stories, and tributes written over the past two weeks about Dad. The original vision for creating these social media 1/3.

Truth without love really isn’t truth. Love without truth really isn’t love. They have to be together.

Culture is never so bad that it can't be redeemed, nor so good that it can't be critiqued.

If your definition of love stresses affectionate feelings more than unselfish actions, you cripple your relationships.

Christians must both forgive and pursue justice. What about sexual abuse? See Rachael Denhollander on this.

BTW - You must love your enemies. If you don't forgive the wrongdoer they continue to control you (Rom 12;14-21). But you don't love or forgive an "evil" person, a "fool," or a "Normal Sinner" in the same way. See these distinctions in

The remedy for self-love is not self-loathing, but rather self-forgetfulness.

A lack of justice leads to increased bitterness and division. Lack of forgiveness leads to increased resistance to justice, and often new acts of escalating injustice from both sides in retaliation. Forgiveness and justice must increase together or they will decrease together.

If you over-adapt to the culture you’re trying to reach, it means you’ve bought into that culture’s idols. If you under-adapt to the culture you’re trying to reach, you’ve bought into the idols of the culture you’re from.

I perceive that our minds are more earnestly elevated into a flame of piety when [words] are sung than when they are not. -Augustine.

Because of God's 'simplicity' we cannot pit his wrath/judgment against his love. A loving God will be angry at the evil that harms the creation and humanity he loves. God is too loving to shrug at sin and not do justice. But he is also too loving to just destroy & not forgive.

Our culture views reality primarily as a matter of power. So, forgiveness seems a failure to exert power over the perpetrator. But see Rom 12:18ff. Forgiving love is the only way to truly overcome evil--otherwise, evil will capture, harden, and use you as it did the perpetrator.

Forgiveness does not preclude justice. On the contrary, without internal forgiveness, you may pursue something less like justice for all and more like revenge for you- two eyes for an eye and two teeth for a tooth. Forgiveness and justice go together--our culture separates them.
