The Maryland HydroNet will help local governments and community members in flood-prone areas track rising floodwaters in real time. "We can't turn our back on rising sea levels and hope for the best," @AOSC_UMD's Tim Canty told @JDDsays for @WTOP.

Samantha Halstead Santez knows all about the art of starting over. In 2020, the new mom left her six-year museum career to enroll in @AOSC_UMD's undergraduate program. With that complete, she's now working toward her Ph.D. and studying #SeaIce at @NASA. https://t.co/UwEt8OASQA

Mesoterps, an @AOSC_UMD student-led project, installed the fourth #UMD campus weather station atop Van Munching Hall! This station is part of the growing micronet of 10 weather stations that Mesoterps use to track #LocalWeather and environmental data. https://t.co/14bvjyuLCt

A great article by @CatClifford about this year's extreme weather events. If it seems like this year is worse than others....you may be right and we've only reached the halfway point. https://t.co/IKyEbcOP3y

Hyperlocal weather reports at #UMD are possible thanks to a micronet—a small-scale network of weather sensors—run by a group of @AOSC_UMD students. The @UMD_Weather website shows the temperature, wind speed, dew point and more at three spots on campus. https://t.co/Si36Znb0bp

"Our study showed that the total PM (particulate matter) EF (emissions factor) of the EV (electric vehicle) was significantly lower than that of the gasoline ICEV (internal combustion) and diesel ICEV, when secondary exhaust PM was included in the determination. 4/5

From the WSJ article "Electric cars’ impact on air pollution isn’t as straightforward as you might think. The vehicles themselves pollute only slightly less than a gasoline car because their massive batteries and consequent weight leads to more particulate pollution 2/5

This is my very first tweet thread! I can't stand when people cherry pick information to make a point. In a recent WSJ opinion piece, Bjorn Lomborg misrepresents studies to claim that electric vehicles cause more pollution. This was then picked up by other "news" sites. 1/5
