The moment was Covid. It happened. Almost every journalist in the nation failed to relay reliable information, instead succumbing to panic and the widest-spread daily curtailment of civil liberties in my lifetime. The rare figures who didn't were silenced or stifled or removed.
Every single word of this fantastic column by @Peggynoonannyc ‘I fear sometimes that few people really care about journalism, but we are dead without it. Someday something bad will happen, something terrible on a national scale, and the thing we’ll need most, literally to

3. In Minnesota, a retired millionaire qualified for food stamps – and it wasn’t a mistake. Thanks to a loophole called Broad-Based Categorical Eligibility (BBCE), states can provide food stamps to individuals with an unlimited amount of assets. The BBCE policy essentially

Since 1988, polarization in the US has been overwhelmingly due to the Left moving leftward, while the Right has basically stayed the same. This is according to a new analysis using k-means clustering, which measures actual positions instead of self-labels. https://t.co/XqXXIVjaNd

In all seriousness: the fundamental practical message of the Democratic Party is that you should expect to pay European-level taxes for South African-level public services. Nobody in the Party really offers a solution, though their brightest think we should build more housing.
Just announced: 5 pop-up salt distribution locations this weekend! Bring a bucket, a wagon, a box—anything to come pick up salt to address icy and hazardous conditions near your home.

While we are viewing this through an antebellum lens, Walz is the one who is essentially pursuing a Nullification Crisis & Walz is the one who put his state guard on high alert to oppose federal officers, as South Carolina at Sumter.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz worries that the violence in his state could produce a national rupture: “I mean, is this a Fort Sumter?”

Wow. Josh Shapiro must be really offended by his statements issued this year and last year, neither of which mentioned "Jews."
Shapiro: “The fact that JD Vance couldn’t bring himself to acknowledging that 6 million Jews were killed by Hitler and by the Nazis speaks volumes. “It is not a surprise to me..given the way he openly embraces neo-Nazis and neo-Nazi political parties.”

@thenewsmovement @BBCNews @NBCNews The official narrative has been that ICE is over-policing, but the new video shows ICE officers erred by under-policing. They should have detained Pretti, asked a judge to take away his gun, and impose a restraining order. Had that happened, Pretti might still be alive today.

LIV Golf's first event (June 9-11, 2022) actually coincided with the peak price of oil over the past five years, but the cost per barrel is down roughly 42% since that peak. The decision by the Saudi PIF to continue to fund this league is significantly more difficult than 3-4
Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed have both left LIV Golf. With LIV losing ~$500 million on its eight international events last year alone, and reports that Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund is running low on cash for new investments, LIV's future is now very much in doubt.

Over half of American hubs were in the storm path and their HQ is in ice covered Ft. Worth. Tough to run an airline if crews can’t make it to the airport and HQ staff is working remote instead of handling logistics in-person.
American Airlines is on the brink of a full-blown meltdown with nearly 1,300 cancellations today. That’s more than the rest of the entire U.S. airline industry … combined. Another 1,000+ delays, too. These disruptions will almost certainly drag on for days.

The Democrat Leader of U.S. House of Representatives didn’t even post about Holocaust Remembrance Day today. @GSDeutch hasn’t said ANYTHING about that despite criticizing the VP for not using her preferred phrasing 🤔

The only Democrat able to win U.S. Senate race in Florida this century was the highly talented Bill Nelson, who lost his race in 2018 despite being a well-liked incumbent in a blue wave election cycle. Vindman is going to get smoked.

NEW @FreeBeacon: Senate candidate Graham Platner (D., Maine) urged supporters to donate to an anti-ICE group led by several Somalis tied to a nonprofit under congressional investigation for allegedly defrauding the state of millions of dollars in Medicaid payments. 🧵

So @washingtonpost added a correction to their “ICE used a child as bait” story to note that it wasn’t accurate to claim the child had been used as bait (which it wasn’t) to get his father who had already fled on foot…but didn’t change the mention in the headline of the piece?

Senate Dems concede that they have violated Va law by failing to give proper public notice of their gerrymandering constitutional amendment. This pm (ironically with no notice to the public) they moved to repeal the problematic law - retroactive to 1971!

At every possible opportunity the Europeans are trying to slip in weird taxes, fees, or penalties to try and grift off American companies. They do a lot of pearl-clutching over Trump but behind the scenes they’re working hard to poison the relationship.
BREAKING: Leaked documents show that the European Commission and European Parliament are trying to secretly create a back door that would allow them to adopt network usage fees, targeting U.S. companies. This is in DIRECT violation of the EU-US trade deal, agreed to by the
