- If I have 2-3 cases, I average 7500-8500 steps daily. From preop to OR to PACU to res lounge for breaks and back all over again. Every day we get two 15 min breaks and one 30 min lunch break and timing depends on the floor runner. But we may not get any rest in between cases.

…feels like I’m the only person in the room that the surgery team does not call by name. The drape physically separates us & I’m not usually in whatever casual conversation they have. But I still try to call people by name and I get my socializing time in the resident lounge!.

… cases are done. We still gotta look up and staff the next days’ cases .- Sure, we do get a chair but especially for days where you have 5-7 cases (which I had several days of this past week), it can be physically demanding. You definitely get your steps in .- Sometimes it ….

Lots of long days but the hours truly just fly by. Some takeaways: .- Every attending (changes daily) has different preferences for how to extubate, how much pain meds to give, every detail, etc, just gotta roll with the punches .- anesthesia residents don’t just leave when….

Can’t believe I’ve already finished a month of solo anesthesia!! 🥹 It’s been so fun and fulfilling, so much better than sitting at a computer writing notes/orders. I still love the interactions I have with my patients.

Honestly one of the best things about intern year was getting to know surgery residents. And then seeing them again in the ORs. And then walking around the hospital saying hi to friends!.

Flying solo in the ORs is a different type of scary. Week 2 of CA1, we out here!.

First week of anesthesia has been exhausting but honestly so fun! Feeling excited to learn and enjoy the ride ☺️😇🤩.

The worst part about putting my phone number in for consults is that I never know if a number is spam or a consultant calling. So I end up answering most calls and receive more spam calls as a result 😩😩😩😩😩.

Just met the some of the incoming intern class at our annual welcome picnic! It’s sooo crazy how my intern year is almost over! 🥹.

In residency somehow you know your schedule to a T but when someone asks me the date I wouldn’t know (at least for me lol). Then time just flies!.

Anesthesia bootcamp has been so fun, exhausting, & overwhelming all at the same time! You really are learning an entirely new way of thinking/doing, and until you actually do it, you really don't know. Honestly all my seniors and attendings have been so great!.

Wow, I can’t believe I graduated med school a year ago yesterday!! 🤯🤯.

The Sunday scaries are still present in residency, especially before a new rotation 😬.

Being in LA always reminds me of my 20s where I was grinding hard. Working 2 jobs across the city while taking some night classes, spending 20 hours a week in traffic, barely getting any sleep, and spending about $1000/mo in gas. Those were the days lol 🫠🫠 How far I’ve come….
