2024 was a pretty good year of reading, but a less good year for writing. Here's the long list of what I read, with a couple of lines of comment on each. https://t.co/e1rQnGPw2W
I had a slightly improved year of reading (mostly), and a definitely (intentionally) improved year of writing in 2023. Here are some of my plans/goals for 2024: https://t.co/5AIGkxNYbs

Some fun and encouraging words from Greg Beale and @DrGladd too - an evening of rich conversation, dreaming about the future of biblical theology, and catching up with brothers and sisters.

A beautiful moment at the NSBT 30th Birthday celebration as we huddled and prayed for the ongoing ministry of the books, editors and authors. We also prayed for Carson as he continues, and books yet to be written. The snacks were good too! Such a joy to do this work.

After a year off, it’s fun and daunting to be gearing up and packing (oh so much packing) for @etsjets and AAR/SBL in Boston next week. Always a delight to be repping @IVPbookcentre - this year is gonna be big!

Not sure if best thing about this is the gender clarity, Barrett/Wolfe shoutouts, or Mike's relentless hatred of coffee. To be fair, I'll be drinking Tea. HT to @S_E_Tooth

121. A very probable book of the year. Beautifully written and produced, absolutely fascinating and wonderfully referenced. I’m a convinced Prot but Tolkiens Catholicism is of a very intriguing kind. 5/5

120. A superbly readable commentary on Daniel. Duguid does a good job of reading the text and also seeing things fairly. A very balanced, sane, and Christ-exalting read. @prpbooks 5/5

You can also listen to @megbasham and @samhailes here: https://t.co/M2vrzgANo8 Like I say, probably worth a rerun. 4/4

Here’s my review of ‘Shepherds for Sale’ by @megbasham - kindly published by @samhailes in @Christianitymag Spoiler alert - it’s controversial in a similar way to the shack: it isn’t that good. Unlike the shack, the book does have a point. https://t.co/6NN0x3yj88 3/4

Megan Basham's Shepherds for Sale is one of the most controversial books to emerge from the US Church in recent years

… clearly need to sit down and have a talk. They are both journalists in different ways, caught up in different evangelicalisms. 2/4

Megan, this is a weird way to engage with someone who a) didn’t write a balanced 2 star review of your book and b) gave you a similar interview. American friends - bullies quote tweet screenshots. Normal people tag people and try and talk. @megbasham and @samhailes 1/4
Yeah, respectfully, Sam, imagine being a Christian outlet interviewing Collins and not asking him about lying about the origins of the virus, his endorsement and funding of research on aborted fetal parts, his own initiative on transgenderism and homosexuality, or his

@SPCKPublishing 118. Some bits out of date, but a good primer/refresher as I gear up to try and sail my old laser more regularly again. 3/5

@SPCKPublishing 117. As vol. 1. A fairly mid commentary wjth some good moments. The author is occasionally delightfully blunt regarding what he thinks. 3/5

We also enjoyed looking at the ‘Seaman’s Monitor’ - a sort of tract/pamphlet produced in the tens of thousands for the Navy, and other seafarers.

We then had a fascinating look at letters between Lord Nelson and George Gaskin, a General Secretary of SPCK. Pictured: current CEO/Gen Sec @SamRichardson__ and Chair of Trustees - hearing about a 200+ year old letter from one their predecessors!
