This week's #bookqw word is:.GAME. Mr. Follett nodded again and gazed at me, unspeaking. Nope. Not falling for that trick. It was his turn to talk. I gazed back at him. Two could play at this game. The silence stretched out way past the point of uncomfortable.

This week's #bookqw word is:.MIDDLE. Middle of the night knocks or calls never come with good news. Did someone else die? Was I under arrest? I took a deep breath to calm myself, then wiped my flour covered hand on my apron and headed for the door.

This week's #bookqw word is:.WISH.Wishing for a magical solution wasn't an actual option, but I couldn't help wishing Jenna had an affinity for electricity instead of storms. Was that even a thing? I had no idea. Mushrooms, Magic, and Murder.

Today's #bookqw word is Heat:. Heat flushed across my face. Why do I have to have a face that shows emotions before I even feel them? Damned traitorous face. She was right, though. At some point Jeremy would put in an appearance and I didn’t want to face him looking like a slob.

This week's #bookqw word is:.FAIR. “And the coven part?” Chief Ramey asked. This time he didn't manage to keep the incredulity and amusement out of his voice. Fair enough. From rough draft of Coffee, Covens, and Corpses.

This week's #bookqw word is:.BRIEF.“Let me be very clear,” I said. “I had no problems with Zachary Follett. I liked him. I most certainly did not murder him.” I waited for my words to have some effect. After he gave a brief nod, I continued. “How do you know about the magic?”.

This week's #bookqw word is:. TREMBLE.“What do you want to know?” I asked. My voice trembled and broke on the last word. Turns out adding fear to existing anger makes emotional regulation damned near impossible.

This week's #bookqw word is:.BELOW.Jeremy didn't follow me to the hospital, for which I was grateful. I had enough to process without adding my complicated feelings about him. X-rays showed three broken ribs, one completely broken and offset, the ones above and below it cracked.

This week's #bookqw word is:.FIND.As long as I could remember I'd been told that if I used magic for dark or selfish purposes, what that magic did to others would come back to me three-fold. I didn't know what three-fold dead would be, but I certainly didn't want to find out.

This week's #bookqw word is:.JEALOUS. He stepped through the door and dug a tiny notebook and a pen out of his breast pocket. Not that I was jealous, but it sure would be nice to have pockets I could fit a whole pen in.
