1/2 The purpose of general eduction science is to teach students science literacy and critical thinking, yet many courses focus on facts. Science isn’t just what we know, it’s how we know. There is a better way: Teach skills, not facts. https://t.co/BpCqK5tCqY

Conspiratorial thinking isn’t the same as critical thinking. If our goal is to uncover real conspiracies, we need critical thinking, not conspiratorial thinking.

Organic food is not grown without pesticides. Organic food is not healthier. Organic food is not better for the environment. Organic food can be worse ecologically - lower yield, more off-target pesticide impacts, more land use, more tillage = worse for the planet. 1/

Facts usually won't cut it. We need to drill down to how beliefs are formed and protected. Melanie Trecek-King of @ThinkingPowers does a lot of writing/speaking about identity beliefs. https://t.co/q84MnMLiKk

Science denial usually stems from a desire to avoid accepting conclusions that conflict with our identity or ideology, or those we don’t like (i.e. solution aversion).🛑 If you see this fallacy in use, consider the underlying motivations.🤔 More details: https://t.co/6WOc4QAZEV
