This argument is basically: The consensus doesn’t support what I want to believe, so scientists haven’t considered my position.
It fails to understand how science works. Scientists question science ALL the time, so what’s more likely is: I don’t know what scientists know.

He thinks that opinions should be on par with actual science. There is no such thing as "reasoned" questioning of science by the people who are tweeting their opinions that covid is fake, masks do nothing, etc.

Whether he agrees with me or no is irrelevant. And scientists are human, and can be influenced. But science doesn’t rely on individuals.
Musk has openly stated anti-science views & is parroting a talking point deniers commonly use to justify what they want to believe.

Doesn’t the scientific critical attitude call us to reject uncritical deference to authorities/consensus/emotions and hostility toward questions? Consensus-based science sounds like lysenkoism. Logical explanations, debate & moral engagement demonstrate expertise in my view.

And science doesn't change no matter one's personal opinion or political agenda. That it's 'my opinion' or 'we'll have to agree to disagree' is inadequate since an opinion still needs to be framed by a fact-based argument or perspective
