it's like a warm up. when you're working out you don't jump right into working heavy. you start w mobility and lighter reps. you're building energy and momentum. that's what living in the present is about. it's about recognizing energy levels and then building up from there.

we can do anything, but not if we don't have the energy. that's why when we're locked into the present we need to be focused on doing tasks that 1. are appropriate for our energy level 2. are incrementally building our energy level so that we can accomplish high level tasks.

when we use past or future guidelines to think in the present then we get tripped up. we're not using the right tools for the job. when you're locked into the moment we need to be focused on our energy and the output that our energy level can accomplish.

i think the present is meant to be thought of in a totally different way than the past or the future. the present is about energy. it's about managing energy and making sure that we're using our current energy level to the full or that we are building up energy.

each of these categories of time have certain guidelines. a. when we think about the past we call to mind memories. memories are meant for lessons and individuality. b. the future guidelines are more about scheming, dreaming and planning. that's how we look at the future.
